Yin yoga is an active practice that utilizes postures to lengthen and release the facia and connective tissue in the body. It is a slow practice that holds postures for varying lengths of times. Movement into and within the postures is slow, with intention and awareness and is guided by sensations within the body discovered by the individual in each posture. Once in the posture, the individual surrenders and softens to the sensations, listening and allowing the sensations to guide the depth of the practice. Yin yoga balances the body and calms the mind. It is the perfect practice for our fast-paced life.
